The hint is in the name…

The Phenomenal Handclap Band are a relatively recent find for me, but I’m stunned at everything I hear by them. They’re an 8 piece band who all hail from Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. They have crafted a sound that is equal parts anthemic, dancefloor-oriented and orchestral, borrowing elements from progressive rock, disco, electro, and psychedelia. One thing is for sure, they’re SO 70’s! I urge you to check them out – I think I may be falling slightly in love. Here’s two of their tracks. ‘Baby’ for me, is already an all time classic. Amazing.

I imagine the guys are gonna be AMAZING live – jump to their myspace for their tour dates. Londoners – they’re playing at Hoxton Bar and Kitchen on the 22nd September! (See you there).

It’s a good album, especially ‘Youll Disappear’ and ‘15-20′ – BUT the drummer doesn’t know how to elaborate, and really lets everyone else down. Plus, the guest vocalist style becomes a bit disparate over a whole LP. Still, genuinely good time music.
